Course Overview
This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to operate and maintain breathing apparatus and equipment in an irrespirable atmosphere, and the selection, use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment. The course content includes:
Inspect and prepare breathing apparatus for immediate use.
Conduct pre-donning tests on breathing apparatus.
Correctly don and operate a breathing apparatus.
Identify hazards and apply control measures according to workplace and equipment procedures.
Use breathing apparatus to complete work activities in accordance with workplace procedures.
Communicate while using breathing apparatus.
Determine the available working time from a breathing apparatus set.
Correctly close down, remove and clean breathing apparatus.
Report faults and/or damage to breathing apparatus.
On successful completion of this course, students will be issued with
a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for MSMWHS216 – Operate Breathing Apparatus.
The Unique Student Identifier (USI) must be supplied and verified prior to issuance (www.usi.gov.au).
Entry Requirements
Students must be able to read, write, speak and understand basic English.
Enrolment form & payment is required prior to training commencing.
Other Requirements
Students will be required to:
present photo ID.
declare any medical issue that may exclude them from full participation.
wear long sleeves, long pants, and enclosed footwear.
All training materials are supplied by Career Employment Group Inc.
