RII20115 - Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation

Overview

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals who perform mainly routine tasks and procedures, using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge, and taking some responsibility for the quality of the work outcomes.

This Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation is a pathway qualification and will prepare an individual to successfully undertake a sector specified Certificate III from the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this qualification can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors. Relevant information must be sourced prior to application of the qualification.

 

Entry Requirements

There are no specific academic entry requirements for this qualification.

Applicants for the Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation are expected to:

·         Have a demonstrated capacity in learning, reading, writing, oracy and numeracy competencies to Level 2 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). See Australian Core Skills Framework.

The above requirements could be demonstrated by applicants in a variety of ways such as:

                    Having completed secondary school to year 10;

                    Verified references from an employer indicating that the applicant has demonstrated the above requirements in their workplace;

                    Via an interview process that assesses the applicant’s skills.

Licencing Requirements

Students must be over 18 years of age for High Risk Licence training

Upon successful completion of High Risk Licencing units, students are provided with a Tax Invoice to apply for their High Risk Work Licence. There is an additional cost to the student associated with the issuance of the licence, please visit www.safework.sa.gov.au for more information

Other Course Requirements

Students should be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces

Students must wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including steel cap boots, long pants and long sleeved shirt at all times

Course length is 12 months

Whyalla, Port Lincoln, Roxby Downs, Adelaide

Delivery Modes Available

Full-time attendance at a group delivery in a venue conducted by a facilitator

Total course cost $2,900.00

Packaging Rules

Total number of units = 9

3 core units  plus

6 elective units,  of which:

at least three (3) must be chosen from Group A

no more than three (3) may be chosen from Group B

no more than one (1) unit may be chosen from elsewhere within this training package, or from another endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.

All elective units selected from outside this qualification must reflect current occupational and learning outcomes of this AQF qualification level.

There are both licensed and non-licensed units of competency relating to high risk work in the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package. To be appointed under any statutory requirements in related roles, units of competency should be selected to meet the state/territory licensing requirements.

There are prerequisites to imported units listed in this qualification. Where a unit is imported as an elective care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified are complied with.
