High Risk Training

Overview

This unit specifies the outcomes required to perform basic rigging work associated with movement of plant and equipment, steel erections, hoists (including mast climbing hoists), placement of pre-cast concrete, safety nets and static lines, perimeter safety screens and shutters; and cantilever crane loading platforms for licensing purposes.

This unit requires the applicant to be able plan the work, select and inspect equipment, set up task, erect structures and plant and dismantle structures and plant.

This unit is based upon the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work.

This unit in its current form meets state and territory licensing requirements. Any alteration will result in a unit which is not acceptable to regulators for the purpose of licensing.

This unit has a pre-requisite requirement. This requirement may be met by either the successful completion of the unit CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging or holding a valid licence for dogging.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must provide evidence of the successful completion of the unit CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging or hold a valid licence for dogging.

Applicants for this unit are expected to:

·         Have a demonstrated capacity in learning, reading, writing, oracy and numeracy competencies to Level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). See Australian Core Skills Framework.

The above requirements could be demonstrated by applicants in a variety of ways such as:

·         Having completed secondary school to year 11;

·         Verified references from an employer indicating that the applicant has demonstrated the above requirements in their workplace;

·         Via an interview process that assesses the applicant’s skills.

Licencing Requirements

Students must be over 18 years of age for High Risk Licence training

Upon successful completion of High Risk Licencing units, students are provided with a Tax Invoice to apply for their High Risk Work Licence. There is an additional cost to the student associated with the issuance of the licence, please visit www.safework.sa.gov.au for more information

Other Course Requirements

Students must wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including steel cap boots, long pants and long sleeved shirt at all times

Delivery Modes Available

Full-time attendance at a group delivery in a venue conducted by a facilitator

Course Fees

Total course cost $1,450.00 or $255.00 with CITB funding

Roxby Downs course cost $1,950.00 or $750.00 with CITB funding
